The purple carrot, Item 4001 looked really good at the front of the display. When cooked it retains it's dark purple colour and certainly adds interest to your Sunday lunch. |
The small round dark coloured Aubergines, Baby Bell, certainly added interest at the show. They are edible just like your regular aubergines, easy to grow but very prone to attacks from aphids |
All these fruits matured a month too early, so much for my diary sowing dates. January was quite a warm month so everything came a little earlier than expected. I still had sufficient to stage a couple of dishes. |
The Chard, both the red and the white cultivars, are all staged together at home before starting off for Chelsea. This saves me considerable time at the show. |

The dispaly at full width. We usually have anything between 40 to 50 different cultivars to form the display with the first vegetables to be sown being the large onions the previous August and the last item to be sown being Radish, 5 weeks before the show. |
Organised chaos I call it. Hardly any room to manouvre during the staging, this applies to all exhibitors. |
Gwenda does an excellent job with the trug. It takes up any of the surplus vegetables we have after completing the various dishes. |
